What Are Bronzer Lotions?

Bronzer lotions are indoor tanning lotions that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA). This ingredient is combined with other ingredients to get a formulation that helps in tanning. The use of these lotions is different from sunless tanning.

Bronzers are often used as a start to the tanning process. The lotions are combined with various other ingredients to create a hot bronzer or a cool bronzer. Hot bronzers contain ingredients that create the tingle effect while cool bronzers contain cooling agents like menthol for a refreshing feel.

Why Do People Use Bronzers?

Natural tanning exposes one to a serious threat of skin cancer.

This is the main reason why more and more people who are interested in getting a skin tan turn to self-tanners and bronzing lotions. However, one should be very careful while applying such lotions, as an incorrect application can lead to a streaked and uneven tan.

It would be best if the user first exfoliates the body skin before applying the bronzer. Loofahs made for sensitive skin can be used for the same. After exfoliation the user should make sure the skin areas where they wish to apply the bronzer lotion is absolutely clean. Also the lotion should not applied to skin that has other kinds of moisturizers, oils or perfumes already applied on it. If you have applied some other skin lotion, wash off so that the bronzing lotion can penetrate the skin properly.

One last thing, the bronzer lotions needs to applied in thin coats. Thick coats can drip and lead to a bad appearance. Thin coats get completely absorbed by the skin leading to even coloring.
